Custom Paint Work in Turner, Maine

Full repaints, color changes, custom finishes, hand-laid stripes and pinstriping, and motorcycle paint - the kind of work where the paint is the whole point, not just the finishing step.

Paint isn't always about putting a vehicle back the way it came. Sometimes it's about changing the color, laying a two-tone or a pearl, painting hand-laid stripes, refreshing an older car, or refinishing the tank and fairings off a motorcycle. JRB Autobody takes on this kind of custom paint work alongside the collision-side refinishing the shop is known for - same painter, different brief.

Jason has been around paint his whole life - his very first project was painting his own snowmobile as a kid - and he has spent more than 30 years getting color, finish, and prep right. The custom side runs the full range: full vehicle repaints, color changes done properly through the jambs and door shuts, two-tones and pearls and metallics, graphics and pinstriping laid by hand, and one-off motorcycle parts.

Every custom job starts with a conversation. Bring the vehicle - or just the parts - by the shop, or send photos along with what you have in mind, and Jason will talk through what's possible, what the finish involves, and what a realistic timeline looks like. Prep is most of the work on any paint job - stripping, sanding, masking, sealing - and Jason does that himself, the same way he does the paint.

Common questions

Do you do full vehicle repaints?

Yes. JRB Autobody handles full vehicle repaints, including color changes done properly through the jambs, door shuts, and edges so the new color shows everywhere the old one did - not just on the outside. Bring the vehicle by or send photos and Jason will walk you through what the job involves.

Can you change the color of my vehicle?

Yes. A proper color change is more involved than painting the outer panels - the jambs, door shuts, and edges have to be refinished too, so the new color is consistent everywhere the old one showed. Jason does the prep, the paint, and the finishing himself.

Do you paint motorcycle parts?

Yes. Tanks, fairings, fenders, helmets, and one-off parts - painted on their own or as a matched set. You can drop the parts off without bringing the whole bike. Custom colors, two-tones, and graphics on motorcycle parts are all part of what the shop does.

Can you do stripes, pinstriping, or graphics?

Yes. Racing stripes, painted graphics, and hand-laid pinstriping are part of the custom paint work the shop offers. Jason plans the layout with you and paints it on - either as part of a larger paint job or on a vehicle that's already finished.

How long does a custom paint job take?

It depends on the scope. A motorcycle tank or a set of stripes is a shorter job; a full vehicle repaint with a color change takes longer, because the prep - stripping, sanding, masking, sealing, and curing - is most of the work. Jason gives you a realistic timeline once he has seen the vehicle or the parts.

How much does custom paint cost?

Custom work is quoted job by job, based on the scope of the paint, the prep involved, and any body work that goes with it. Estimates are always free - send photos or bring the vehicle by and Jason will give you a clear price.
